3500 coins in ikmk-win.ch
We have reached another milestone: As of today, 3500 coins are online. It is a reminder that the Winterthur collection not only has internationally renowned holdings of Greek and Roman Provincial coins, but an outstanding collection of Swiss coins as well.
It is mainly due to two important collections of the 19th century, the one of Carl Lohner (Thun) and that of Friedrich Imhoof-Blumer (Winterthur). The latter donated in 1871 both collections he had united to his hometown Winterthur. Since then the holdings grew considerably by great donations (1941: Carl Hüni, 2013: Edwin Tobler) and acquisitions. It is today one the three or four best collections of Swiss coins existing and is one of the two reference collections of the type portal project OSCAR.
